Batteries and the aircraft walk-around
15 min
0/2 practice
- Explain why battery checks are critical.
- Structure a walk-around inspection.
Lithium batteries store a lot of energy. A damaged, swollen or punctured cell can overheat or catch fire, and a battery without enough charge ends a flight early. That's why battery steps are almost always critical, recorded as numbers with limits, and verified by a second person.
A walk-around inspection goes around the aircraft in a fixed path — nose, arms and motors, propellers, body, gimbal and sensors, landing gear — so nothing is looked at twice and nothing is skipped.
Put it in order
Put a walk-around in a fixed order, starting at the front.
- 1Front arms, motors and propellers
- 2Landing gear and underside sensors
- 3Rear arms, motors and propellers
- 4Camera and gimbal
- 5Body and battery seating
