Three sources for every preflight

15 min
0/1 practice
  • Distinguish regulatory, manufacturer and program requirements.

A drone preflight in this program comes from three sources. The regulation — 14 CFR 107.49 — says what every remote pilot must do before flight: assess the operating environment, brief the crew, check the control link, confirm enough power, and secure anything attached. The manufacturer's manual says how to do it on this specific aircraft and what its limits are. The program adds what CTEC Aviation requires on top, like logging and data handling.

PreFlighted shows the source on every step: regulation, manufacturer (with document and page), program, or the author's own. An instructor approving a procedure can see exactly where each line came from.

Never from memory

If you don't know an aircraft's limit or procedure, the step says 'see the manual' until you've looked it up and cited it. A confident guess on a checklist is more dangerous than a blank.
