Reading a manufacturer manual
15 min
0/1 practice
- Find the preflight and battery sections of a manual.
- Turn manual text into checklist steps without changing their meaning.
Manufacturer manuals bury checklist material in several places: a pre-flight checklist section, the battery chapter, warnings at the start of the manual, and the specifications table at the end.
When you turn manual text into a step, keep the meaning exactly. Paraphrase only to make it an instruction; never change a number, a unit or a condition. Record the document title, version and page so anyone can check it.
Fix the line
A manual states an operating temperature range. Which step is written correctly?
Don't fly if it's too cold
The Hangar library
Each fleet aircraft's procedure in the Hangar is built from its manual with page citations, and is marked 'review required' until an instructor verifies it.
